What I Do

Joyful Wedding Photography is a boutique business specializing in intimate weddings of up to 100 people. I am inspired by nature, ambient light, and dramatic imagery. My favorite environment to work in is outdoors for its relaxed feel and open space surrounded by the beauty of nature. This is the setting in which I do my best artistic work which provides the freedom for me to create truly unique images.

I was born with a strong creative and aesthetic sense. Over time, I cultivated a keen eye for fashion, texture, and color. Being curious, intuitive, and sensitive to others has given me a way to engage all five senses when creating from behind the camera. My clients know me as being enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, and professional. They also know that I have an ability to focus on the present and quickly adapt, which allows me to 'be in the moment' right there with them!

How I Do It

Every wedding is as different as the man and woman who are getting married. With many years of experience as an editorial photojournalist and wedding photographer, I have refined the distinct skill of documenting 'definitive moments' that tell a story. This includes capturing expressions, body language, humorous interractions, beauty, romance, action, dancing, toasts, guests, off-beat moments, bride & groom creative portraits, and group photos.

I have been told by many brides an grooms that my presence at their wedding was calming and also reminded them of a ninja. I wear all black and cover lots of ground and various angles without ever being really noticed. This hyper-observant approach is how I am able to document all the nuances and happenings of your special day with the people you love most.

Why I Do It

I am a storyteller at heart and what better subject to capture than a love story? The emotions felt between a man and a woman on their wedding day is truly something to behold. Throughout the many years that I have been photographing people, the images that I enjoy creating most are joyful emotions and expressions that are often present at weddings.

Fifteen years ago I chose this profession because it was exciting, challenging, and fulfilling. Photography allows me to be true to myself by living and working with passion.

My Style

MY PHOTOGRAPHY is energetic, organic and most of all authentic. Peruse through my portfolio and you will see a collection of joyful, spontaneous, and emotional moments in a style that is modern while also being timeless.

MY APPROACH is a balanced combination of being photojournalistic and artistic. I achieve this by using unique angles, framing, and natural light. Also, by layering the foreground, middleground, and background it adds depth, dimenstion, and meaning which tells the story to create a collection of beautiful moments captured in time.

MY CLIENTS have one trait in common -- their trust and confidence in my abilities and skills. They are able to fully relax and enjoy the moments of their day knowing that their wedding will be thoroughly captured for them. After the cake has been eaten and guests have gone home (and let's be honest...when your memory fades), the wedding photos from your special day will be the only thing that remains as a visual reminder of how lovely your wedding day was.

MY EXPERT ADVICE is to start by choosing a photographer whose style resonates with yours. If you love their portfolio, there is a high probablity that you will love how they document your day. Of equal importance is to contract an esablished professional who has photographed many weddings -- there is no substitute for experience. Choose a photographer whom you could see yourself hanging out with for a full day and enjoying it!

WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE?

My documentary style is to let your wedding day unfold organically. Joy, tears, funny moments, silliness, reverence -- whatever happens it will be captured for you to remember.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I am located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

DO YOU TRAVEL?

I prefer to photograph local weddings. Please reach out for specific inquiries about locations.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS?

I have been photographing weddings and events for 15 years.

WHICH GEAR DO YOU USE?

I photograph using my new professional Canon R6, flash, and lenses.

HOW DO WE RECEIVE THE IMAGES?

I use a custom slideshow to display the gallery of images online for viewing and sharing. The final images are delivered electronically using Dropbox or Google Drive

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE RECEIVE?

Every wedding is unique and so is the coverage, but you will receive a minimum of 200 edited images.

HOW LONG UNTIL WE SEE THE IMAGES?

My standard delivery time is 3-4 weeks. If I'm not swamped the turnaround is sometimes sooner. A blog post will be uploaded for sneak peeks to share.

DO WE HAVE PRINTING RIGHTS FOR PERSONAL USE?

Yes. As the creator of the images I retain copyright, however each client has printing rights for personal use and to share online.

DO YOU CREATE ALBUMS AND BOOKS?

Yes. I have several years of experience designing beautiful, heirloom wedding albums and parent books.

HOW DO WE COMMISSION YOU TO PHOTOGRAPH OUR WEDDING?

First, we set up a time to talk on the phone or on Zoom to discuss your wedding plans. To secure your wedding date as booked, a deposit of 25% of your package is requred and a contract is emailed.

WHAT TYPES OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

I accept Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, and personal checks.

DO YOU TAKE POSED PHOTOS OF FAMILY AND THE WEDDING PARTY?

Yes, I take group family and wedding party photos, as well as creative portraits of the bride and groom. These are the only pre-planned posed photos taken, and I take an interactive and directive role to make this part of the day enjoyable.
